Can I add a tracking Pixel to a preroll campaign or a Synced Banner?

Yes.  Stations can run a tracking pixel with either a synced banner on and audio ad or a preroll ad in a campaign by using the Synced Banner function to load the tracking Pixel code.  However, before this action is done it is important to note that tracking pixel technology will not accurately reflect the true number of impressions served by the preroll.

Tracking Pixels are essentially loaded and treated like Synced Banners and it is technically impossible for all synced banners (tracking pixel or other) to be 100% delivered to all users on all devices!

Due to the nature of how a tracking pixel works it is common for them to be blocked by end listener ISP's, networks, firewalls, and personal security settings.  In fact, about 15%-20% of all Synced Banners are blocked by the end users network and firewall settings.  If all listeners are listening from web based players that means that the tracking pixel will only count 80%-85% of all the impressions that are actually served.

It is also important to note that while banners are becoming more pervasive in the mobile space, MOST MOBILE DEVICES DO NOT SUPPORT SYNCED BANNERS.  According to the most recent statistics as much as 30% of streaming listenership is occurring through and on mobile devices.  So, in these scenarios, tracking pixels will only count up to 70% of the prerolls impressions that are actually being served.

Taken together, this means that as much as 45% of the current streaming audience cannot load the tracking pixel and as such campaigns scheduled with tracking pixels might miss as much as 45% of all preroll impressions that are actually served.

That being stated, to set up a tracking pixel, just follow the steps below:
