If the Injector is ending an instream at an incorrect time and coming back from the injected stop set in the middle of a show (a talk segment, a song, etc), most likely this has occurred because our system never received an event from the automation system telling the Injector that the break should be over. Remember, the Injector is 100% data reactive. It will react to what the automation system is telling it to do. That being said, every Cart Trigger (the elements on the Injector side that “look” for specific data) are configured with a default duration. This default duration, tell the Injector to return from injecting content after x number of minutes, if NO DATA has been received from the station automation system.
If the Injector doesn’t receive a data cue from the automation system after 6 minutes (this is the standard default trigger duration), it will return to regular programming automatically. To correct the issue, make sure that the station automation system is sending some form of data, other than commercial data, at the end of the stop set. The Default cart trigger (set-up on most stations) for the station should force a return to live once that data is sent and received.
If your station is a Talk format that only sends a Start of Break command, then the best way to keep the stop sets tight is to schedule a ¼ second element of silence at the end of the stop set – as the first item to return. If this item is categorized as anything OTHER than a spot/commercial/start break, the station’s Default trigger will treat it as a Go Live element and force the Injector to stop the instream replacement.
